Who we are
Jeevan is a habit tracker. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is kept, who can see it, and the choices you have. Contact: vaibhavkapoorwork@gmail.com.
Using Jeevan as a guest
You can use Jeevan without an account. In guest mode your habits, daily progress, moods, notes, reminders, alarms, birthdate, gender, goal and settings are stored only on your phone. Your App Lock PIN is kept on your phone only, as a salted hash. Nothing from guest mode is sent to our servers.
If you sign in or create an account
You can sign in with Google or with an e-mail address and password. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, which receives your e-mail address and, for Google, your name and profile identifier.
Public profile. We keep a profile with your display name, username, points, streak and, if you choose one, your profile picture. Other signed-in Jeevan users can see these and can find you by username. A picture you upload is shrunk to a small square and stored in your profile, so only upload a picture you are happy to share. Jeevan Pro users who open your profile can also see the public groups and public challenges you are in. Private groups and private challenges are never shown, and you can turn this off in Settings, Security, Show my public groups.
Private cloud backup. When you are signed in, Jeevan saves a compressed copy of your Jeevan data (habits, daily progress, moods, notes, reminders, alarms, birthdate, gender, goals, settings, and any steps, distance, workout, sleep or water values that Health Connect filled into your habits) so you can restore it on a new phone and keep two phones in step. It is sent over an encrypted connection. Only your own account can read or write this backup. We do not read it or share it. Your App Lock PIN is not included. If you use Jeevan on two phones, the two copies are merged so no progress is lost.
Friends, groups, challenges and chats
If you use the community features, the following is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is visible to the people it is shared with:
• Friend requests and friends: friends can see your profile and your chats with them.
• Groups: members can see your name, username, points, streak, recent progress, posts, comments and messages in that group. Public groups can be found by anyone signed in.
• Central challenges (such as 5 AM Club or Gym Rats): when you join, other signed-in users can see your name, username, number of days done, streak and today’s percentage on the challenge’s Members and Leaderboard pages. Challenge chat is visible to members of that challenge. Leaving a challenge removes your entry.
• Messages you send cannot be edited. You can delete your own messages and posts.
Nearby (optional)
Nearby is off until you turn it on, and is for people aged 18 and over. When on, we store only a rough area of about 5 km (never your exact location) together with your name, username and points, so other Nearby users can find you. A public group owner can also choose to show the group on the map by a rough area. The exact location is used on your phone to work out the area and is not stored. While Nearby is on, your rough area is updated when you open Jeevan. Your Nearby entry stays visible at your last area after you sign out, and is deleted when you stop sharing or delete your account. It is hidden if you have not opened the app for 30 days.
Health Connect (optional)
If you connect Health Connect, Jeevan reads steps, distance, exercise sessions, sleep and hydration on your phone to fill in the habits you link. These values are used only to show your progress. They are not sold, shared, or used for advertising. If you are signed in, the resulting habit progress is included in your private backup described above. You can disconnect Health Connect in the app or in the Health Connect settings.
Health tools
The BMI, calorie, water, protein, gym planner and 1-rep max tools run entirely on your phone using the numbers you type. They are for general information, not medical advice, and the numbers you type into them are not stored unless you choose to add a habit.
Alarms and notifications
Habit reminders and alarms are scheduled on your phone. The app may ask to show full-screen alarms on your lock screen, send notifications and ignore battery optimisation so that an alarm rings on time. These permissions are used only to make your alarms and reminders ring. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings.
Jeevan Pro and purchases
Jeevan has an optional paid plan, Jeevan Pro. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play, so we never see or store your card or payment details. When you redeem a gift code, we store that the code was used and the account it was applied to, so it cannot be used twice. Pro features only ever add to the free app; nothing you made is deleted if Pro ends.
Maps
The Nearby map uses map tiles from OpenStreetMap. Their servers receive the tile requests your phone makes, which includes your IP address and the part of the map you are viewing.
Reports and safety
If you report or block someone, we store the report (who, what and why) so it can be reviewed. We may remove content or accounts that break the Terms.
Service providers
Jeevan uses Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to run accounts, backup and community features. Google processes this data for us under its own terms. We do not sell your information or show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Usage statistics
When you are signed in, Jeevan records how long you spend on each screen and how often you use features (for example adding a habit, joining a group or opening a health tool), together with your account ID, the day, and the number of habits you have. It never includes habit names, notes, messages or other content. We use it to understand which parts of the app are useful and to fix problems. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, only we can read it, and it is deleted after 120 days or when you delete your account. You can turn it off any time in Settings → Security → Share usage statistics. Guests are not measured.
Website early-access sign-ups
If you leave your name and e-mail address in the early-access form on jeevanhabit.in, we store them in Google Cloud Firestore and use them only to send you a welcome email, your Jeevan invite and news about the launch. The welcome email is sent from our Gmail account through Google Apps Script. Our emails contain a tiny invisible image that tells us whether and when an email was opened; we record the time and your e-mail address in a private log, only to see whether the invite reached you. You can switch this off by blocking images in your mail app. Only we can read this list. We do not sell or share it. To be removed, e-mail vaibhavkapoorwork@gmail.com from the same address and we will delete your entry within 30 days.
Website statistics
On jeevanhabit.in we count visits and clicks on the early-access buttons. Each browser gets a random id stored in its local storage (no name, e-mail address or IP address), and we store only that id, whether it was a visit or a click, which button, and the time. Only we can read these counts. We skip counting if your browser sends “Do Not Track”, and you can stop it any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser.
Children
Jeevan is not directed at children under 13, and community accounts should not be created by them. Nearby is limited to adults.
Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Friends → Community → Account & privacy → Delete my community account removes your profile, backup, friendships, group memberships, challenge entries, usage statistics and Nearby entry. Settings → Security → Delete all my data erases everything on your phone. You can delete your own posts and messages. To have anything else removed, e-mail vaibhavkapoorwork@gmail.com and we will act on it within 30 days. See how to delete your data. Uninstalling the app removes the data on your phone.
Changes
We may update this policy as Jeevan grows. The latest version is always in the app and at jeevanhabit.in/privacy.
